This recipe is so quick and easy. This makes a perfect BLT, or adds just the right crunch to a veggie burger. For any new vegans finding that something is missing at the breakfast table.. this is the recipe for you.
8 oz package Tempeh
2-4 tablespoons agave nectar (or maple syrup)
2 tablespoon tamari
2 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 tsp of cayenne (optional)
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
Cut Tempeh into thin strips., the thinner the better.
Mix remaining ingredients. Slather marinade onto tempeh slices, let sit for 3-5 minutes. Fry tempeh until crisp, roughly 2 min per side.
We tried out many recipes before landing on this one as a favorite. I think it is the cinnamon that really does the trick. Sure, it doesn’t have that dead-flesh flavor, but it sure makes an amazing BLT
If you prefer a smokier bacon, you could add a splash of liquid smoke to the marinade.
